Hi Everyone,
Great news for everyone who's interested in coming to the Sydney screening. We have finally found a venue for the screening, and have also pinned down a date! The date will be on Saturday, the 28th of March, 2009. It is about 8 weeks away....not that long to go. Oh, and the screening will start at 7:00 pm.
The venue is at the University Hall, University of Technology Sydney (UTS) at the corner of Harris and Thomas St, Ultimo.
Click here for a link to the venue's website.
Hope to see all of you there!

ReplyDelete*EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHH!!!!!!*
ReplyDeleteCannot wait ! See you all there ! hehehehe Thank you Shann, Thank you Cilla !!! xoxo
Errr, wait, do we need to be reserving spots ? :/ Just in case ?
ReplyDeleteAgree with Emilia - will we be able to buy tickets beforehand?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah - thanks Shann & Cilla - you are the best. Too excited and hit enter before I finished typing!
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone, you would definitely be able to buy tickets beforehand. At this stage, we're looking at the best way to organise payment over the net. We will get back to you as soon as we've come to a decision.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Looks like a good venue too.
ReplyDeleteCilla & Shann you ladies are brilliant! Thank you so much for organising this event I bet it's taken up a fair amount of your time. Any more word on the rating of the movie - I really want to bring my daughter (almost 18 years old)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait!!
Kaye xo
Thanks. Once its set up how will we find out about Tickets?? I have to organise flights etc as I will be coming from Brisbane. Have been praying for distribution on this film for months now, so thank you for finally giving us a chance to see it!!!!
ReplyDeletei am definatley looking forward to see this film. thankyou so much for the updates. i hope i can get a ticket, beforehand or there. it's nerve-racking.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for your support :)
Someone asked for a rating...well, we're in the process of getting the film rated.
But since I've watched the film many, many times, I can guarantee that the film's not going to be rated 'R'. There are brief drug use, a couple of curse words, alcohol drinking, and a brief scene of violence. But that's just from my observation. We'll tell you what exactly the rating once we get it.
Many thanks,
Shann
about the rating since you said theres only a few drug use, couple of cussing and that it should be just maybe M ;\ .. its not like theres lots of sex scenes right? .. also
ReplyDeleteWould it be okay if you guys can also find a way to get reservations without using it through the net. ( aka.. buying tickets through paypal?) .. Anyways that would be great if you guys can do that (: , but you dont have to do that if thats a hassel (:
thanks.
looking foward to watching it.
- ingrid.
Great job, ladies!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! And it's even close to home!!! :D Speaking of which, being in the area, I can pay cash and in person (I'd rather not use my credit card, if possible).
My friend and I can't wait to see this film! :D
Great news, thanks for going to the trouble:)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait! I am so glad that it is coming to Australia!
ReplyDeletewhere can we buy tickets??? so excited!
ReplyDeletewould it be possible to reserve a ticket right now? :D
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for this movie for a year now and got completely shot down when I found it didn't get into the Sydney Film Festival so... this would make my life (nearly) complete :')
Thanks so much for organising this guys!!!!!
Wow!!! This is awesome. Thanks for organizing guys. How do we go about getting tickets?
ReplyDeleteCan't Wait! Let us know about reserving tickets ASAP. Thankyou!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAww wow im so excited now. I love you!! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Shann & Cilla, I'm sooo excited, can't wait;)
ReplyDeleteAny news on how to purchase tickets ??
ReplyDeleteCan tickets be bought before the night??
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone,
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited that everyone's so excited! Does that make any sense?? LOL.
You can definitely buy tickets before the night. At the moment, we are discussing the best way to organise this..but we hope to post and update you as soon as we can.
In terms of the movie rating, I have just sent an application to the Classification Board to lower the rating to M (15+). I'm crossing my fingers now and hoping that they'd approve.
hahaha then what was the rating before?? :D
ReplyDeleteand would it be possible to reserve a ticket right now, in the case that i might suddenly have no internet access for the next week or so? (we're swapping plans)
If that'd be possible, it would be greatly appreciated - if you need it, my email is rinoahsan@hotmail.com
Thanks! :D
Ah - that's what we are all afraid of - not getting the tickets!!!!! Cilla you are a champion and I understand why you are excited about our excitement. 28 March will be a great night & I better be there - hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited! I know lots of people who would like to come. how many does the theatre hold?
ReplyDeleteHi Steph, the theatre holds about 400 people....
ReplyDeleteI am soooo excited Cilla, I cant wait to see the movie!! I definately want to get a couple of tickets!
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriend and I are REALLY EXCITED!!! We cant wait! Standing by to find out about tickets so that we can book flights and accomodation.

ReplyDeleteomg im so excited! i've watched the trailer soooo many times! and i love robert pattinson to bits!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen will tickets be available??
I too am overly excited for such a novelty thing. Lol. Thankyou Cilla & Shann for providing this opportunity.
ReplyDeleteOhh, and if you happen to love The Roches, shops like JB Hi-Fi and stuff are now accpeting orders for their CD's. I ordered mine last week ^_^
I want to come over from New Zealand to see it. Is that crazy? Haha I really hope I can make it. I don't want to miss this one.
ReplyDeleteNot crazy case. I'm coming from Bris. If I was in NZ, I'd come from there. I have been waiting like 8 months for this!!
ReplyDeleteHi Case, Josh and Emma,
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see you guys in Sydney. If I were living anywhere else in Australia and someone else is organising this..I'd do my best to get there as well. I've been waiting to see this movie on the big screen since I saw the trailer last June. I almost cried watching the trailer..and that almost never happens.
You're not crazy, my friend and I are planning on coming from Perth. I've been waiting so long to see the film, I'm so grateful that this screening as been organised :-)
ReplyDeleteWell my friend and i plan to come from the Gold Coast...which isnt that far but still...and we would prob leave sat morning.....because we have school on fri....So when do you think tickets will be available??
ReplyDeleteYay! I am so excited! Watch out Sydney! The crazy kiwi gal is coming! :D
ReplyDeleteYeah, any idea when tickets go on sale because I don't want to book my airfares until I can guarantee a ticket!
Oh man! I feel like I am about to burst!
YAY! My friend and I will fly up from Melbourne to come. But oh please, tell me you can do this for Little Ashes too!! I'm desperate to see that movie!!
ReplyDeleteI second that about "Little Ashes", I'm really looking forward to that one, even more than "How To Be", I confess! That is one really challenging role, I reckon! :)
ReplyDeleteYes! I love the trailer for little ashes..although i am a bit disturbed how hes gay in it....and i heard its rated R??? Because of the sex scenes or something?? But i wouldnt mind watching it :D
ReplyDeleteI am SO hanging to see this movie!! Count me in for 2 tix. Can't wait for more news re screening ;p
ReplyDeleteCheers
Sam
I imagine Little Ashes may be released through the arthouse cinemas in Sydney ie. Academy/Palace & I too hear that it will be R rated. It's US release is mid March so I hope we will get it a month later as per usual. Cilla - will you be letting us know when the tickets might go on sale - I too only need 2 tickets!
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOO!!!
ReplyDeleteI leave to go back home to England on that day!
My life is officially over.
Oh wel, I guess I'll just have to roam the streets on London and try to kidnap the real thing.
I hope you guys have a good night anyway!
Did everybody hear the awesome news? Little Ashes is coming to Australia in march too!! How fabulous would it be if we could all see How To Be and then go see Little Ashes straight after? THAT would officially be the best day of the year...well maybe a draw for best day with new moon.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you hear that? Google only comes up with a supposed Australia release date of 19 Dec 09? But there's nothing on imdb website that confirms any release dates other than US and Spain. If it was March it would be awesome. Sorry we've gone off topic of How To Be - but its hard not to get carried away when Rob is involved!
ReplyDeleteHave a look this video..

Its a couple of minutes in..
Hope we can get tickets before hand! My friends and I are coming up from Melbourne!
ReplyDeleteCilla, I know that you're in Sydney so it would be a bit difficult to get a How to Be screening in Melbourne, but if you are considering it a perfect venur would be a lecture theatre at Melbourne University. I've never organised an event before so I wouldnt know where to begin. But if it is at all possible that somebody could have a screening here in Melbourne thatd be soo amazing. I dont think I can make it to Sydney and its breaking my heart :(
ReplyDeleteBtw I go to Melb Uni so I could help with organising a melb screening if thats at all possible.
ReplyDeletePerhaps asking for a more personal way to chat to Cilla would be better for those trying to organise a Melbourne viewing. =D
ReplyDeleteIf Little Ashes is planned for a similar viewing, I'd personally be happy to fund it, I'm just totally clueless as to how to organise such a thing.
Okay, so before I book my plane tickets from New Zealand to get to this baby - can someone please just confirm that this is definitely happening and that I can be guaranteed a ticket?!
ReplyDeleteI really want to get my tickets and accom booked sooner rather than later.
Dear Case,
ReplyDeleteThis is really happening :)
Sincerely,
Shann
Could somebody please tell me how much this will cost?? Thanks
ReplyDeleteErin, good idea :) Just sent an email to Cilla.
ReplyDeleteMy tickets are booked and confirmed! Yeehah! Sydney I'ma comin'!
ReplyDeleteAre tickets available to purchase over the net yet????
ReplyDeletei want to come up from melbourne!
And edward4bella, i go to melb uni too - i would be happy to help you organise it should you get the go-ahead!
ReplyDeletecan you please post when tix are going to be available soon cos i really don't want to miss out on this....thanx piccinin1@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteFlights and accommodation booked!! Hope tickets come on sale too!! I can't wait!!
ReplyDeletethis is so awesome. THX for organising it. I'm wondering if it is also possible to screen 'little ashes'.
ReplyDeleteBut this is so awesome......
YAYA.
Bugger...are there any further planned screenings??? I am in Brisbane...are there any screenings there??? Plus, the only DVDs of the film to buy that I can tell are in UK format and probably won't work on Australian DVD players. Is this right??
